Phillip “Pots” Wilmot, 1Lt., USS Bunker Hill: Landing on a carrier was terrifying at first. It took a month or so. After a while we were as good as the navy guys. On 11 May we were doing a Tiger Cat, which is orbiting destroyers over the picket stations. They had launched us just before daybreak. Our first in command was Archie Donohue – he had 14 victories – we landed about 0900. We were all tired and gathered for debriefing. Archie was a sweet guy. He said: I think we oughta all go down to our bunks.
